There are 115 boys and 39 girls playing in this year's events at Memorial Hall, Tauranga.
Please give yourself plenty of time to travel to the venue, with traffic along Turret Rd being particularly slow, and Tauranga very busy with AIMS traffic.
If your player(s) will not be there for the start of play, please text Tournament Director, John Lea on 021 0386025.
Teams events will be held on Monday and Tuesday 11th and 12th September.
The hall opens at 8.30am each day for practice, and for Managers enquiries. The Team Managers meeting will be at 9am Monday in the downstairs kitchen, with play underway at 9.30am. There will be 5 rounds, each taking 90 minutes, with play finishing at 5pm approx.
From Tuesday onwards, play starts at 9am. Tuesday continues the girls round robin, and starts boys knockouts, with an expected finish of 4.30pm. Only pool winners go through to the Championship knockout. Boys Consolation event will be run in three tiers. All teams will play off for a final position, except the championship semi-finalists. They will play off for gold, silver and bronze medals at 9am on Friday - finals day.
Some teams may have only 2 players for a match comprising 3 singles and 2 doubles, in which case only their 2 singles and 1 doubles count, meaning they must win all 3 to win a match.
Players are expected to umpire their own matches in teams events. Tournament staff will assist wherever they can.
Teams draws, players, schedules and results can all be found on the TTNZ Event page: Click here
Results will be updated periodically by the Tournament Planner Software. You are encouraged to click and explore.
The singles event starts 9am on Wednesday and will run to shortly after 7pm that evening. Pools matches commence at 9am, 11am and 1pm and run for 2 hours for sections with 4 players. 3 player pools run for one hour. Knockouts commence at 3pm, and every player finishes when they lose from then on. Championship semi-finals and finals will be played on Friday. Players are expected to umpire the following match on their table after they lose. Again, the consolation event for both boys and girls is in two tiers, one for those placing last in pools, and one for others in third place..
Doubles draws will only be provisional, and will not be confirmed until Tuesday - allowing time for confirmation of pairings, and review of seedings. Play will commence at 9am with Girls doubles and most pools of Boys doubles. At 11am the rest of Boys doubles pools will be played, alongside mixed doubles. Knockouts will commence at 1pm. Championship semi-finals and finals in all 3 events will be held Friday.
Draws, pairings, player schedules and results for singles and doubles events can be found on a second TTNZ Event page: Click here
Photos will be posted in our attached gallery page.
Please look closely in planning your travel to and from the venues. Some schools should considering staggering transport on Wednesday, as there will be waits of up to 4 hours for some pools. Many will finish early on Thursday. Friday should finish around 2pm. Monday will be a busy long day, with Tuesday slightly shorter. We hope you all have a great week at AIMS Table Tennis 2017!
