Stuart McRae.
August 1927 - May 2010.

Stuart joined the Ashbury Croquet Club in 1993, he became  a committee member in 1995, was grounds person for three years1996,97,98. He was elected Treasurer in 1999 and remained in that office until the club received his resignation in late April 2010. Stuart was also linesman throughout his term as Treasurer, relinquishing the paint pot in January of this year.

Stuart will be remembered by the club's members for his astute management of the club's finances, his sense of humour and his enthusiasm for the game of croquet in all its forms; he played for the club in C and B grade Flag Match teams and in the Golf Croquet Inter club Team when required. He  was a regular player at the Croquet South Canterbury Association Tournaments  and played in many of the 'fun days' hosted by clubs within the Association.

Stuart was a tireless worker for the club, he participated in many fundraisers, and working bees, turning up with his tools early and one of the last to leave. Spare produce from his garden was sold to members to benefit the club.

A large number of Club Members joined the McRae family at Stuarts farewell at Chalmers Church in Timaru on 10th May.
