Central Winter Academy General Information 

The Winter Academy has been a long standing development tool for Cornwall and Ellerslie Cricket Club players. The winter academy nominations are discussed amongst the Cornwall Development Manager, Ellerslie Development Manager and the grade convenors. 

The players that are selected, go through a set programme with coaches from vast backgrounds, all coaches selected are qualified by New Zealand Cricket or hold overseas coaching qualifications.  

A selection of players who are not selected in the Winter Academy will be asked to take part in the Central Development Academy. This is a chance to keep more players in the loop. Central understands that players develop at different times and this is the best way to track all players going through the Cornwall/Ellerslie system. 

The Winter Academy is not related to the selection of tournament teams but has been an essential link for many players as an additional and afforable training option. we are continuously seeking funding to subsidise the cost of these sessions.
