Canterbury Sea Kayak Network (CSKNet)

CSKNet is a network of sea kayakers from the Canterburay area, rather than a club. That is we don't have membership fees, a constitution or elected officers.
We use e-mail, this web site & facebook for contact with  'members'.
There are organised trips and an annual training weekend. These are all free.
'Members' give their time to provide CSKNet services.

There are other similar networks and kayak clubs around the country that support/are supported by the Kiwi Association of Sea Kayakers (KASK).

To become a CSKN member you need to provide your e-mail address to the Club Contact.

Advertising is limited, perhaps to members selling their gear, the occaisional sale or new shop opening so that you know where to get the latest gear.

Finally, liability. Other than "acts of God" (see the film staring Billy Connolly, "The Man Who Sued God" ), you are ultimately responsible for your own safety. If conditions are such that you are not willing to paddle solo, be prepared to not go, or to turn back. Always let those paddling with you know your decision.

Okains Bay training 20/21 Feb 2021

65 people attended the fantastic weekend, including 7 volunteer coaches.

Rescues and surf training were very well attended with two sessions of each on Saturday and another on Sunday. Beginners were well catered for in the Opara Stream esturay and easy surf on Sat morning. The whole group assembled at the Okains Bay Community Hall on Sat night for a series of short presentations, which seemed to be well received, first time we have used the hall. We camped at the sheltered eastern end of the camp ground for the first time. Conditions were so calm however that the benefit will need to be reserved for future years.
