COACH DEVELOPMENT IN SELWYN
The Selwyn Netball Centre is committed to supporting all it’s members with coach development. The Selwyn Coaching Convener for 2018 is Olivia Macfarlane.
The Selwyn Netball Centre and all it’s member club’s are affiliated to Netball New Zealand which provides a Coach Development Programme for us to follow. The details of this development programme are on the Netball NZ website in the “Coachforce Coach Development Framework Manual”.
Selwyn run NNZ workshops and coaching modules. The calendar of these are on the Selwyn website. Details of courses will be notified to all clubs via the monthly report and will also be on the website. Coaches must register for all courses by sending a registration form to the Selwyn Netball Centre at least 3 days prior to each course. The form is on the forms page on the website.
To The Club Coaching Convener:
Please ensure that the Selwyn Coaching Convener knows your email address
- please familiarize yourself with the NNZ Coach Development Framework
- email or talk to the Selwyn coaching convener to assist you with which workshops or modules are the right ones for your coaches
- encourage your club coaches to develop by attending the workshops and modules on offer and following the NNZ Coach Development pathway
Selwyn will provide training for the Star Helpers in the Year 1&2 netball programme and training for the Year 3&4 coaches. Details of these courses will be notified to participating clubs via the monthly coaching report. In order for these junior programmes to be successful it is essential that all Star Helpers and year 3 &4 coaches attend these courses.
- Selwyn advise that all your coaches attend the “Starting Out in Coaching” workshop and have access to the ‘Coaching Toolkit” These manuals are available through Sports Distributors and cost about $56. They are a great investment for your club’s coaches
- Selwyn advise that all your coaches coach in a “Player Centred Coaching “ style to develop good decision making players. Training in this style of coaching is available at the NNZ Player Centred Coaching workshop.
Your club coaching convener will also be notified by email of other coach development opportunities as they arise.
