Information for Novices: At Regattas

Turning up on time

At regattas you will be required to turn up in time to rig your boat, warm up with your crew and talk to your coach before your race. We will notify you via Team App prior to a regatta with the time to arrive.

It is important that you are ready to race and if it is an early start, then make sure you have had breakfast.

What to bring

Always bring a water bottle, some nutritious food and snacks, sunscreen and hat.

Take all of this with you to the boat park.

Where to be during Regattas

You are expected to be in one of 3 places whilst at the regatta:

  • In the boat park
  • On the water or
  • At the Hauraki Rowing Club marquee - this is also where parents and supporters will usually be if they are not in the stands near the finish line.

If others from our club are racing, particularly in finals, you are encouraged to cheer them on from the sidelines.

Staying at the end of the regatta

It is expected that all rowers stay until the end of each regatta day to help load boats and gear. The more helpers, the quicker this gets completed.
