Etiquette and rules re use of W1, W2 and W6 Bookings
1. All bookings go through [email protected], they frequently get adhoc requests and approves them without consultation with every other club member.
2. If you request the use of a waka and you are not replied to you immediately that doesn’t give you carte blanche to help yourself. Ideally a few days notice is required to ensure we can get back to you, before your booking.
3. Those training for a SPECIFIC race have priority over booking waka and getting access to a specific waka. (e.g. MahiMahi over 1990)
4. Those with a booking take priority over those that don’t.
5. Those with a booking who don’t use it on a particular day, lose it (allowing a reasonable grace period of 30 minutes for a no show). That doesn’t mean because a crew misses a session they lose their entire booking.
6. Hawaikinui requirements take priority over other clubs
7. If you don’t have a particular waka booked then don’t help yourself without checking with James first. See point 1
8. Don’t remove bungs, bailers etc from personal waka for club waka. (unless you have an OK from the owner)
9. Tell us at [email protected] ASAP if you see a problem with the waka. (this is a safety issue and we need to know if waka should be taken out of circulation until it’s seaworthy again)
10. All those using club waka are expected to follow the rules and guidelines of Hawaikinui (levels of experience, lifejackets, etc). A complete safety overview can be found here, and it is encouraged that this is read and understood before any use of the waka
