Palezevic re-signs for 17/18

THIRSTY WHALE Hawke’s Bay United announce the signing of midfielder Alex Palezevic

This week Hawke’s Bay United have added Alex Palezevic to their list of signings as the 20-year-old becomes the latest addition to Brett Angell’s squad for this summer’s ISPS HANDA Premiership National League campaign.

Palezevic is a well-known face to the Hawke’s Bay United support, this being his third season playing at the club since first joining in 2014.

The Wellington youngster, who has represented New Zealand at under-17 and under-20 level, is already looking forward to his return and the renowned Hawke’s Bay summer.

“This will be my fourth year [at the club], but I missed the season prior to last year because of injury, so this will be my third actual playing season at Hawkes Bay United. I love it up there. The weather is great, and the people are nice. It’s awesome.”

Palezevic played in every game for Hawke’s Bay United last season, and says reaching the playoffs was a major high point, but this year he wants to see the team go even further, and is already eyeing up the final.

“The last couple of years we’ve been doing really well in the league, and hopefully we can do the same and a bit more this year.

“Obviously we are looking to get to the playoffs again, but, hopefully take it a step further this time. Get to the final and go for the win. That would be the goal.”

Palezevic will be travelling up to Napier to commence training with the squad next month.

The Massey University marketing student says that playing for Hawke’s Bay United is always his number one choice.

“This is my fourth year at Hawkes Bay and I’ve always felt loyal to them. I’ve never had a reason to leave the club. It’s always been a good place to be.

“All the squad I’ve been involved with have been great boys. It’s always been a good experience.”

Palezevic has a long association with HBU boss Angell, and is looking forward to being reunited with his gaffer.

“I have a good relationship with Brett. I’ve known him for a while now, even before Hawkes Bay United.

“He’s a good coach, he knows what he’s doing. It’s fun working with him.”

Everyone at Hawke’s Bay United welcomes Palezevic back to the club and wishes him every success for the season ahead.
