Register online here and we'll be in touch about upcoming events. Junior Rugby in Wellington is based on school-age again this year, early registration helps us organise the teams and coaches. Let us know what friends you'd like to play with.

Grades

NOTE: WRFU changed grading in 2022 from birth year to school year. 

• Start out with our Nursery grade who get a run around each Sunday morning in our indoor training facility - catching, passing, running. Burn off some energy and see if they like it.  
• Year 1 and Year 2 - Rippa Rugby - on a quarter-sized pitch so everyone gets a run. A flag on each hip, ball under the arm, it's about participation and fun. Some teams have a training run during the week; others might have a 'practice' before the game. Games Friday night or Saturday morning.
• Year 3 to Year 8 - Tackle - School year and some weight-based grades, you'll be surprised how skilful they get in such a short amount of time. There is no player left out, all shapes and sizes, everyone gets involved. In Year 3 they are still feeling out the game, 'tackle' might be an exaggeration, but they are starting to bump into each other. By Year 5 there is almost a pattern and coaches start to see their practice drills finally work. By Year 7 and 8 it's classic rugby that all the children enjoy and want to put in extra work to become All Blacks. Games Friday night or Saturday morning.
