Why Community Funders Are Important

The Khandallah Croquet Club is a public sporting facility just like other clubs.  However, we are in the unusual position of owning and maintaining the court (grass lawn or green) and buildings.  Most other croquet clubs are owned by their local bodies, and the local bodies maintain the grounds and often the buildings.  Wellington City Council rates are our next largest expense.

The club manages most of the costs from subscriptions, green fees and ongoing fund-raising.  Our fundraising has included fashion parades, movie nights, raffles, and hosting visiting business and community groups to give them croquet experience and fun.  However, these fundraising activities cannot cover all our costs iwhich include council rates,
