ROWING
Otago Boys High School (OBHS) Rowing Club is one of New Zealand’s oldest and leading schoolboy rowing clubs. Hamish Bond and Carl Meyer are some of our most famous alumni.
Senior OBHS rowers Ben Mason, Reuben Cook and Henry Kirk were selected for the New Zealand Junior (U19) team in 2019, 2021, and 2022 respectively. OBHS is currently the New Zealand silver medallists in the U18 Novice 8+ and New Zealand gold medalist in the U18 Novice 4+. OBHS rowing attracts a large number of high school students over all year groups and from diverse family backgrounds across New Zealand.
For Novice rowers or those just beginning their rowing journey, the focus is on enjoyment and accepting the challenges set by the coach. For the more experienced rowers, the focus is to push themselves further and reach above their achievements from the previous years and strive to achieve at the highest level, the Maadi Cup.
