Ponsonby Bowling Club Newsletter 202209-01 (06/09/22)

Remembrance Notices:

It is with deep sadness, that the Club’s Flag is at Half Mast again, as we have lost a few of our fellow members over the last few weeks. Ante Vujnovich (TV) passed away on 25th August and Gerald Williams passed away yesterday. Our thoughts are with their family and friends.
Bruce (TV’s Son) has arranged a small remembrance for “TV” at the Clubrooms on Friday 16th September at 2:00pm. Look forward to catching up on all the stories / memories that “TV” has left behind.

Natural (Bottom) Green Update:

After several inspections by a Turf specialist, it has been strongly recommended that the Natural Green is replaced with All Weather Green, due to the ongoing issues experienced with the maintenance of the Natural Green. We are in the final stages of planning to ensure there is no impact on the Apartment Building infrastructure under the current Natural Green. At this stage (subject to approval) work should commence over the coming months, with the goal of the green being ready for play late November.

Club Competition Update:
Don’t forget to check the Club Notice Board for upcoming competitions.

The Softsource Winter Singles was scheduled to be “Played” during July and August. Only a few games  / scorecards were completed for this competition. The winner with the most points was Bernie Connolly and runner up Martin Dagg. Hopefully we will see some more interest in the Hong Kong (2-4-2) pairs, which  is scheduled for this coming weekend.
The Hong Kong Pairs will be played on a single day (Saturday 8th September). The Registration form is on the Club Notice Board and registrations close on Saturday at 9:45 am, with the first game scheduled for 10:00am. Games will then follow at 11:30am and 2:00pm. Hope to see  to on the greens.
