Correct Riding Attire for Rallies

                        Exams and competitions



Puketapu Branch uniform consists of:

Helmet:

    When mounted a properly fitted, securely fastened helmet with are
    recognised standard, which can be checked by the head
instructor ,
    and a blue tag attached so helmets don't need to be checked

    all the time.

Shirt:

A collared white shirt with long or short sleeves.
(for rallies , the Summer long sleeved shirt,  acceptable)


Tie:

Black or Navy

Badge:

Club badge worn on the sweatshirt

Sweatshirt:
The formal winter weight sweatshirt is to be worn with shirt and tie

Jodhpurs:

Jodhpurs or breeches, light coloured

Boots:

Jodhpur boots ( black or brown), long riding boots ( being black      boots,or black boots with brown tops) or two piece boots ( black only) mustbe worn. If two piece boots are worn, they must be plain dress  leather or full grain leather. Both pieces must be matching.

It is traditionally correct for pony riders to wear jodphur boots.

   
The top half of the two piece boots are known as gaiters and
sometimes
referred to as chapettes or half chaps.

A gaiter is defined as a piece of leather below the knee down to the
ankle.


GAITERS, CHAPETTES OR HALF CHAPS MADE OF CLOTHOR SUEDE ARE NOT PERMITTED.

Jewellery:

Ear-rings,ear studs,and any exposed jewellery must be removed or
taped.Tongue studs must be removed.



Less Formal Pony Club Uniform:

Our summer weight Pony Club collared polo shirt can be worn on its
own
just at a rally but if you choose, rather than the winter weight
sweatshirt, it
can be worn with a white shirt and tie to competitions or
exams to change
it to formal.


Body Protector:

Also known as a safety vest, a body protector is designed to offer         
protection to the upper body,and should be worn when jumping,
particularly when doing cross country.

Riders taking part in jumping or games should have long sleeves for
protection against grass/shingle/sand burns in the event of a fall.
Sleeveless tops are unsuitable riding attire for pony club.



Riders must always have the correct head and foot wear. Long hair
must B
e tied back under helmet it is recommended that a hairnet be
worn to
keep long hair tidy.



COMPETITIONS:

ON THE DAY

Turnout:

    Pony, saddlery and rider must be near perfect as you can make them; remember you are representing your club or branch. Your pony must have been groomed and your tack cleaned beforehand- don't rely on last minute clean up. Everything that can shine, should shine. Saddlery must be sound and well fitting. Always check carefully what saddlery and equipment is permitted.
