Rugby is a game for everyone! There is a way for everyone to get involved regardless of age, gender or experience. There is a grade and a position for every person, big or small. 

Rugby is a great way to learn new skills and develop your confidence while also having fun with your mates. It teaches the important values of commitment, resilience and teamwork.

Small Black - Junior Rugby

Our junior grades cater for girls and boys aged 4-13 years old. All grades are mixed gender, with some clubs providing girls only teams. Junior Rugby provides a safe, fun environment for kids to learn the basic skills of the game. Junior rugby encourages participation and the rules ensure all team members play at least half a game per week.


Small Blacks -Rippa Rugby

Rippa Rugby is played by anyone under the age of seven. Rippa Rugby is a safe, non-contact and fun game for both boys and girls alike. The rules are easy to learn and promote excellent ball-handling and running skills.  Rippa Rugby is a great way to give all kids a chance to participate while learning the basics of the rugby.


Small Blacks -Tackle

After Ripper rugby,  tackle Rugby is offered for junior players fromthe Under 8’s through to the Under 13’s. There are open weight grades and also weight restrictioned grades for lighter players. 


Secondary School Rugby

Secondary School Rugby offers both an open weight section and age/weight restricted grades across the wider Auckland area. All who participate in rugby accross this age group must play for a school. Please follow the link for Secondary School Rugby to find out more.


Club Rugby (Men)

The Premier grade is the pinnacle of Senior Club Rugby. Premier Development, Under 20’s and Under 21’s foster the development of players. A weight restricted Under 85kg grade is available for lighter players.

Senior Rugby also offers those looking to stay involved in rugby at a less competitive level the opportunity to play. Grades cater for Under 19’s, school leavers, social players and Over 35’s (Presidents Grades).


Women & Girls Rugby

Women’s rugby is popular with the number of clubs offering women the opportunity to play growing every year. The Women’s competition is played in two grades, Premier and Development. Club teams from North Harbour, Auckland, Counties Manukau and Waikato regions play in an competition. There is also the opportunity for girls to participate in the junior and secondary school grades.
