Results 2019. Firstly the weather, there was rain on the Saturday morning and then it cleared up, however the rain continued in the hills and the Rangitata river overflowed into the South Branch which breached its banks and flooded the main road which was closed to all traffic and did not reopen until the Wednesdy afternoon. The bridge over the river at Arundel on the inland road was also closed meaning the players from Timaru were stranded and stayed on in Ashburton until the Arundel bridge was reopened on Monday around mid day. Clothing retailers benefited from the delays as fresh underwear and tooth brushes were purchased by those cut off, Ashburton players and club members rallied round and beds were found for all for two nights. It would be a tournament to remember for all who participated. Please note at the same time the Main road on the West Coast was also closed due to flooding - a reminder of the power of mother nature and how suseptible we all are to her whims!
