Spring Grove Strawberries

Valerie and Geoff Gaul are known for their large juicy strawberries. They have been growing strawberries off and on for over 30 years. They live on a small lifestyle farmlet and started growing strawberries to help with paying the mortgage. They had a young family, were on one income and with high interests needed a secondary income. Strawberries provided a good solution and fitted in with their lifestyle.

Valerie and Geoff greatly enjoy being strawberry growers, particular doing quality control! It is satisfying to supply a quality product for the public to enjoy. They are now full time growers with help from close family members and do the picking, packing, cleaning up the plants and sorting the beds for the next season themselves.

They really enjoy attending the Nelson Farmers Market and being able to meet and talk to the people who purchase their product. Being mid-week is a convenient time for them. They are proud of having developed a good reputation for a quality product and work hard to keep it that way.
