Play Basketball

Welcome to St Thomas of Canterbury College Basketball

Basketball is one of the fastest-growing and most widely participated sports at St Thomas of Canterbury College. With strong engagement across all year levels, our programme continues to provide meaningful opportunities for students to develop their skills, compete with pride, and represent the College with distinction.

Supported by a committed community of coaches, staff, parents, and team managers, STC Basketball is focused on developing the whole person. We place equal importance on performance and character, guided by our school values of Manawa, Brotherhood, Compassion, and Legacy. These values shape how we train, compete, and support one another—on and off the court.

We invite you to explore our programme, activities, and policies, and to become part of a basketball community that values effort, respect, and growth. STC Basketball offers students and families the opportunity to enjoy high-quality competition, build lifelong friendships, and contribute to a proud and enduring sporting tradition at the College.

Trials are held for all competitive teams and will commence early term 1. Trials are not held for Friday social teams.

Students who do not make a competitive school team have the opportunity to join our affiliated club, Pioneer Basketball, based at Pioneer Stadium. As one of the largest and most established clubs in Christchurch, Pioneer warmly welcomes St Thomas students to be a part of their community.
