Netball one of the largest sports at Takapuna Grammar where both performance and participation are catered for among our many teams.
With over 280 girls playing each week (in the NNH Saturday competition or the Monday Year 9 competition), we offer opportunities for all girls and boys who wish to play netball. We will place anyone who would like to play netball into a team with Seniors also having the chance to make up social teams.
Preseason, senior training starts during Term 1 along with games and development opportunities. Some top teams also have the opportunity to travel to tournaments and games outside of Auckland throughout the season.
Students also have the opportunity to play club netball, trial for North Harbour representative teams, develop their umpiring skills and qualifications, gain coaching qualifications and coach or manage junior Takapuna Grammar School or Belmont Intermediate School netball teams. These are all pathways for our students to develop and upskill in this sport if they choose to.
All students at TGS are welcome to Umpire, and it is encouraged. We offer a range of materials to help aspiring Umpires grow along the pathway, including umpire courses, resources and games to practice umpiring skills.
During the Netball season, there is a weekly roster published in which umpires are rostered onto around their availability and skill level.
All North Harbour college netball is run by Netball North Harbour who do a great job and have a lot of information on their website.
