TRAIL RUNNING

> There is no bad weather - only bad clothes.

When, Where and How Far Do We Run?

We try to do a different route each Thursday to keep the variety up. We will run for anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes around the Port Hills. We start running at 4:00 pm on Thursdays so aim to be there a few minutes early. Pop home after school to get a snack if need be! Click here to view a summary of all runs in 2022.

We organise all our runs on a WhatsApp group chat. The link for this can be found in your registration confirmation email! Alternatively, email LSF (Finn Le Sueur) if you cannot find it. Both students and parents are welcome in the chat.

This is a flexible club – you can attend only when you are able, allowing for other commitments throughout the year.

Some transport is available with the teachers. Please ask week-to-week if you need a ride.

Being Safe on the Trails

The best way to be safe on the trails is to know your limits and have the appropriate gear. Each run will be tailored to the ability of the runners to ensure that we stay safe, and we will not be running if the weather is dangerous. However, it is possible that it may be cold or that we may get rained on from time to time. For this reason it is important that the runners bring (to the start of the run, or on the run with them):

  • Food (if wanted)
  • Water
  • A windproof/waterproof layer
  • Headlight (during winter months)
  • Warm clothes for during/after the run
  • Sunscreen & sun protection
  • Anything else you may require

I will also be carrying with me a spare headlight, a small first aid kit, and my cellphone during all runs.

Cashmere High Strava Club

If you are into tracking your activities on Strava, there is a Cashmere High School Trail Running Club on Strava. The stats of the Club are displayed on this page. Just a bit of fun!
