Wellington College Football (WCF) is one of the largest junior clubs in the region and the biggest team sport at Wellington College, with 30 teams in 2023.

We provide teams for all levels of ability and ambition. We want all the students who play football at Wellington College, irrespective of the level they play at, to enjoy it. We encourage players to play for both school and club teams to avoid having to make 'decisions' and foster their love & enjoyment of the game.

Wellington College football teams compete in competitions run by College Sport Wellington (CSW):

  • CSW Junior for Years 9 and 10
  • CSW Year 11 for our non-streamed yr 11 teams
  • CSW Youth for Years 11(streamed), 12 and 13

At the competitive end of the scale, the WC 1st XI competes for the Trevor Rigby Cup in the CSW Premier Youth Grade (PYG), plays in five traditional fixtures and expects to qualify for the NZSS National Football Tournament held each year.  The 2nd XI is a traditionally very strong team and plays in the CSW Premier Reserve Grade and competes at the NZSS National 2nd XI Tournament. Our top Junior side plays for the Vaughn Coveny Cup and takes part in the NZSS National Junior Tournament.

Coaching involves professional coaches, staff, parents and senior students overseen by the Director of Football.
