Behaviour Policy

POLICY ON BEHAVIOUR FOR COACHING, DEVELOPMENT SQUADS, REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS AND OTHER LIKE GROUPS OF PLAYERS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE WAIKATO GOLF ASSOCIATION.

The Waikato Golf Association place considerable importance on the value of good behaviour and attitude in the sport of golf.
Players who are part of any group attaching to the Waikato Golf Association are expected to act at all times in an exemplary manner paying due respect to the position which they hold and to the traditions of the game.

The following are examples of unacceptable behaviour; this is not a finite list.  It should be noted also that the behaviour is not confined to the times when they are under the direct control of the Association or the Association's representative.

1. Bringing the game or Association into disrepute.
2. Theft
3. Assault
4. Verbal abuse
5. Bad language
6. Abuse of equipment
       a)    Throwing Clubs
       b)    Breaking Clubs
       c)    Abusive use of Clubs other than within the attention of the game, i.e. damaging trees through temper.
7. Drinking Underage.
8. Discourtesy as a guest of a billet.
9. Ill mannered behaviour
       a) Towards an Official
       b)  In general
10. Inappropriate dress
11. Entering and failing to appear at a tournament
12. Failing to complete a round or to return a Strokeplay card
13. Deliberate contravention of the Rules Of Golf.

PENALTIES: 

There is a range of penalties available to cover various levels of misbehaviour ranging from minor misdemeanours to serious offences.  The Coach/Association Representative has the authority to:
Minor misdemeanours 
Reprimand people

Medium type offences
In consultation with the Executive Officer or Senior Executive member of the Waikato Golf Association carry out the following action:
Stand a person down from the squad or from some of the activities of the group for a finite period

Disqualification
Serious offences: Report the matter to the Disciplinary Committee of Waikato Golf for their action. Managers or others directly involved to attend any disciplinary hearings.
