Athletics New Zealand, SPARC, the Halberg Trust, and some Wellington Athletic Clubs are co-operating to provide athletic activities for children with disabilities. This is an opportunity for active physical exercise in the fresh air, in a safe environment.

The program is based on the popular “Run, Jump, Throw” activities and is held at Newtown Park (where the program has been running for a few years).

The program is open to all children, with physical, intellectual, visual, or aural challenges. It is intended for primary and intermediate ages, but will certainly accept college-age athletes as well.

There is a requirement that the children be accompanied by a responsible caregiver who can help lift those with mobility problems into a throwing chair or deal with any behavioral issues.
