Artistic Roller Skating Competitions

Entries for all competitions need to be made via the Club Secretary. There are requirements and application deadlines to be considered.  There are competitions in addition to the below and these are advertised to club skaters as information is released.

AUCKLAND LOCAL

North Shore Cup

This is a one-day event with open-based grades using medal test requirements. The beginner requirements included in this competition are identical to Regionals. It's for skaters in their first 1-4 years of skating.

Auckland Rollersports Open

This is a one-day event with open-based grades using medal test requirements. The beginner requirements included in this competition are identical to Regionals. 


REGIONALS

This is a one-day event with requirements based on the National schedule and is usually held before Areas each competitions year. Regionals can therefore be an excellent practice opportunity for Areas and NZ Champs; judging, audience, costumes, etc. This competition is more age-based and is also the ultimate event for beginners. Each region (Auckland/Northland, Waikato/BOP, East Central, West Central, Top of the South, and Southern) can hold its own event - skaters are welcome to register to compete at other Regionals.


AREAS

A weekend event, Areas is the qualifying competition for Nationals and is usually held in April/May. There are only federated events at this competition (no beginner events). Each area (Northern, Central, and Southern) hold their own event - skaters are welcome to register to compete in other Areas.


GRAEME SHEPPARD

A weekend event and is usually held in Palmerston North in May. There are only federated events at this competition (no beginner events). Dance, free, and precision are held in one weekend, and figures are held separately at another event.


LAURIE HASTIE

A weekend event and is usually held in Palmerston North in June. There are only federated events at this competition (no beginner events).


NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS (NATIONALS)

The pinnacle event for most skaters is a week-long competition held during the July school holidays. This year the event is the qualifying competition for Oceanias. 

Nationals differ from other competitions as it has an opening ceremony and merchandise for sale, each event has an official training slot (familiarising yourself with the floor type and size), and concludes with a social event on a Saturday night.

Americas Cup - January

World Series Semi-Final 1, 2, & 3, and the Final - May to June

Australian Nationals - July

Pacific Cup (Masters and Figures) - August

Oceania Championships - August

A competition between New Zealand and Australia (sometimes with other visiting countries), this is held annually and is hosted in New Zealand one year and Australia the next. Similar to Nationals, there is an opening ceremony, official training slots, and a concluding social event. The NZ team stays in camp, and all requirements (accommodation, transport to the venue, food, uniforms, etc) are handled by team managers.
