Hawks 1
Swimmers normally progress into this squad from Mini Hawks, though swimmers of suitable ability can move directly into this squad. Over time in this squad swimmers will be taught:
- Advanced Stroke Technique
- Advanced Racing Tumble Turn Skills
- Advanced Racing Open Turn Skills
- Pace Clock Skills and how to correctly time themselves
- Individual Medley Skills
- Basics of Race Pace Training Skills
Entry Criteria
- Must be competent (as assessed by Aquahawks coaches) at all four strokes and all racing turns.
- Must be able to execute a racing dive from the starting blocks for all 4 strokes.
- Must be able to swim 200m continuously in legal Freestyle and Backstroke and 100m continuously in legal Breaststroke and 50m continuously in legal Butterfly.
Competitions
Swimmers must attend Monthly Club Nights and take part in the Annual Club Championships by swimming as many races as they qualify for. They are encouraged to take part in other local or regional meets, including the Napier Port Ocean Swim.
