- Mixed Grades - a minimum of 2 girls must be on the field at all times!! With girls tries counting double.
- Boys only Grades - team is made up completely of Boys. Girls may fill in if required but all tries = 1 point.
- Girls only Grades - team is made up completely of Girls. Boys may not fill in.
Depending on entry numbers there may be some crossover games between the mixed and single gender teams.
Registrations Process
For the 2026/27 Aupaki Touch Module there are changes to the registration process.
We will now be accepting both Team Registrations and Individual Registrations for the module.
Team Registrations
Get your friends together and register your team as one. By registering as a team this ensures your child plays alongside their friends. A minimum of 6 players are required for this to work, although it is suggested to have between 8-10 players to account for substitutes on the day and any absences in your team.
Each team needs to have the minimum of a coach/manager who is responsible for their team, organising substitutes etc on the day and who will be the main point of contact for the module organisers. Most teams have a couple of parents doing this role or they may share the load amongst the team.
Team Registration costs (tbc) are then usually split equally between the team. The team coach or manager will coordinate this for the team and then pay in one bulk payment.
Individual Registrations
Wanting to play touch but don't have enough players to make your own team? You can look to register as an Individual and the module organisers will try to place you into a team.
Where possible, players will be placed alongside players from their own school, however, depending upon numbers, there may be some mixed teams from multiple schools created.
Once teams are created by the module organisers parents/carers of the players are responsible for coaching/managing the team. Module organisers will try to help support organising this side of things to enable players to participate.
Prior to the commencement of the Term 4 - 2026 Aupaki Touch Module there will be an information evening run in conjunction with Canterbury Touch whereby basic rules, information and coaching techniques will be shared.
By registering as an Individual each player will pay a registration fee which must be paid at the time of registering. This fee will be slightly more than the fee associated for players in a Team Registration as it takes into account the administration time associated with the module organisers sorting the teams.
Costs:
tbc
Team Uniforms
Within each team all players MUST wear the same colour t-shirt when playing. Teams do not have to have exact matching tops and there is no requirement for teams to have numbers on their shirts.
Should 2 teams clash with colours, bibs will be provided for the nominated ‘away’ team to wear.
Shoes MUST be worn at all times by both players and referees.
No jewellery or watches may be worn.
Official Results
All official results up to the previous week will be available on the Aupaki Touch Website – https://www.sporty.co.nz/AupakiJuniorTouch/.
Please note that results are not captured for the Year 0-2 or Year 3/4 age groups.
Points scoring
- Year 0-2 & 3/4:
- All tries scored are worth 1 point.
- Year 5/6 & 7/8:
- Mixed Grade - If a minimum of 2 girls are on the pitch and a girl scores a try, this will be worth double points.
- Boys only & Girls only Grades: All tries scored are worth 1 point
Game length
All games are 14 minute halves. The siren will be sounded for the start of the game, at halftime and the end of the game.
Please note that the siren will not be sounded to indicate the start of the 2nd half of your game.
Teams are to have a 1 or 2-minute break and then begin the 2nd half themselves under the referee’s command.
Referees
Kelly Sports and Aupaki Touch Module will look to supply referees for this module. These referees will be Senior Students where possible and we remind players and spectators of this matter.
Abuse or arguing with the Referees will not be tolerated and you may be asked to leave the module if this occurs.
Any issues on the day please speak directly to the Kelly Sports module organisers.
If a referee is not available for your game, each team will be asked to supply a referee to help control the game.
In particular the year 0-4 age groups it is about participation and having a go learning the sport. Some rules may be made flexible in these age groups.
We understand that some year 5/6 and 7/8 teams may be a little more competitive, but our focus is still on participation and playing the sport.
Cancellations & Defaults
Where possible, a decision will be made by 2.00 pm on the Thursday and your Team Manager will receive a text/email to advise the decision. This will also be on the website and Aupaki Touch Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/4877844078982672.
Please do not assume that touch will be cancelled.
Please try and make sure only the coaches/managers contact the competition administrator. This is just for practical reasons.
