2021 National Club Champs


With a short turn around, The MTF Nelson Honey badgers were again up in Auckland competing with the other clubs from around the country.

This tournament was the biggest one yet with both Mens and Womans Competitions. Another milestone for the sport in NZ, which again was being broadcast live on Sky Sport.

The Badgers progressed well again through pool play, even without some key vetern players and alot of new young players in the team.  They once again found themsleves  in the Semi final agains rivals The Hawks Bay Heat.

Another tough game coming down to the wire but this time it was the Hawks Bay offsense that put the game out of reach. WIth another 3rd place playoff looming, this time against last years winners Tamaki lightening. The Honey Badgers got revenge for the lost in 2019 in pool play defeating Tamaki to place 3rd for the second year in a row.

The Hawks Bay heat again also falling short to The Metro Lions, who have become the fourth power house of flag football in NZ.

The 2022 National Club Flag Champs is shaping up to be a nail bitter of a competition with The sport growing in all regions across NZ looking to prove themsleves on the national stage.
