GOODBYE FOR NOW NICOLE!

Nicole Jack and her husband, Wayne Nichols (commonly known as Nifty), are bidding farewell for now as they embark on an exciting adventure to London. Their OE dream of working and traveling will keep them abroad for at least the next 15 months.

For the past ten years, Nicole Jack has been a Wellington Softball Assn Executive Committee member, with eight of those years spent as President, after being initially encouraged to take up the position by Ash Pointon.

During her tenure, Nicole implemented a database and online registration systems, which effectively streamlined the administrative processes for the clubs. She oversaw the transition of the development officer role from Softball NZ to WSA and successfully recruited Gretchen Aucoin and Amber Schisler to expand the number of development programmes in the region. Working alongside Campbell Makea, Alex Hill, Philippa Ward, Wayne Nichols, Aucoin and Schisler developed the successful Winter Development Programmes, which incorporated mental skills training for players. Nicole also played a key role in maintaining the financial stability of the Association, which proved to be invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nicole said that working with individuals who were passionate and selfless, and who prioritised the game over their own interests, was an experience that she valued and cherished.

Nicole had been a member of the Miramar Committee for almost two decades, serving in various roles such as secretary, treasurer, and junior convenor, before joining the WSA Committee. During her time with Miramar, she organised the 75th Jubilee, which was a significant achievement. Additionally, she formed a strong friendship with a group of women whom she played with, and they remained close lifelong friends. Nicole's contributions to Miramar were recognised by her being awarded the status of life member. Currently, she is coaching the Under 13 Diamonds for this season.

Nicole and Nifty have planned to attend the WBSC World Cup Qualifier in Italy, where they plan to cheer on the White Sox along with some pizza and Peroni...

We wish them all the best as they begin this new chapter in their lives.
