Addington Rugby League Football Club Manatōpū
Established in 1912, we are the oldest Rugby League Club in the South Island. 2024 sees us celebrating 111 years of Rugby League within our Club and this was all made possible by our past and present members, players, coaches, managers, supporters and volunteers. We currently have a membership of over 160 including Life members.
Our Purpose
To contine to give access to Rugby League opportunites in all different capacities from the tender age of 3 with our Nursery Grade right through to our President Grade and all the Grades in-between. This comes in the form of Player development, Coaching and Managing pathways, Governance experience and every other faculty that a Club has and needs to be operational.
Our Values
We are a whānau orientated, focused and lead Club. We pride ouselves on ensuring we support our Rugby League community and the Christchurch community by way of fundraising/funding and using local businesses to service our needs. Our whānau, our members, our volunteers are all an integral part of our Club they're what makes our heart beat strong after 111 years of operations.
Our Goals
We are committed to sustaining our current number of memberships and teams with the hope of a steady growth for our Club. We are committed to one day having a team in every grade, so parents and children can play alongside eachother, under the Addington banner, one day with the hopes for playing for the same Senior team. Our dedicated volunteers have helped to grow the Club this year alone by introducing 3 new teams for our 2024 season: Under 14s Girls Grade (combined with the Woolston Rams), Div 1's Grade and a Womens Grade.
2024 sees our Club starting the season with 5 Junior teams, 1 Youth team and 3 Senior teams.
