Medication brand change consultation includes Atomoxetine

Pharmac is consulting on possible brand changes for medications currently being used in New Zealand.

One listed for possible brand change is Atomoxetine, which is used to treat ADHD, particularly in young people aged between 10 and 17, sometimes alongside other stimulant medication.

Atomoxetine has been through several brand changes over the years, as generic brands have come on the market and no adverse reactions have been reported.

However, Pharmac would like to hear of any concerns people may have.

The consultation closes on 3 May 2026.
