One of New Zealand’s longest standing sports partnerships is set to continue with Barfoot & Thompson announcing it will renew its sponsorship of Auckland Rugby for another four years.
Auckland Rugby has enjoyed a remarkable 43-year partnership with New Zealand's largest privately-owned real estate agency, Barfoot & Thompson, dating back to 1981.
Barfoot & Thompson Managing Director Peter Thompson says, “We’re delighted to continue our support for Auckland Rugby. This partnership has been a fantastic journey, filled with passion, teamwork and community spirit. Auckland Rugby brings the game to life in our city, and we're proud to stand alongside this great organisation, backing the players and the fans who make every match an event to remember. It's been an honour to be part of the story, and we're excited for what lies ahead.”
Peter Thompson’s connection to Auckland Rugby runs deep. In December 2017 he was made a life member of Auckland Rugby and 17-years earlier he became a life member of his local College Rifles Rugby Football Club. He served as an independent board member of Auckland Rugby for eight years and as manager of the NPC side from 2004 – 2006 during which Auckland won the 2005 NPC title.
Auckland Rugby Chief Executive Jarrod Bear says, “We’re thrilled to have Barfoot & Thompson continue our partnership with us for another four years. It’s rare to have a partnership that spans over four decades and we are fortunate to have the enduring support of Peter Thompson and his team at Barfoot & Thompson. They have an intimate understanding of rugby, a passion for sport at all levels and are genuinely behind us at every step.” Barfoot and Thompson are an incredible organisation which provides invaluable support to so many communities in Auckland.
The support will see Barfoot & Thompson continue as Principal Partner of Auckland Rugby, with logo placement on the front of the NPC and FPC team jerseys, as well as promoting the popular Club Galleries, that reached over 1.5 million people last year alone, and supporting the annual Prosport Gala evening – a fundraising event for Auckland Rugby’s Prosport education to support school leavers seeking further education and life skills.
