Auckland Football Federation ISPS Handa Chatham Cup wrap up


Last week, the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup kicked off with several Auckland Football Federation affiliated clubs taking part, along with several Auckland Sunday Football Association teams also participating.

Here is a wrap up of how the AFF affiliated teams and ASFA teams got on in the Preliminary round.

ANZAC day results:

Kiwi True Blues welcomed WaiBOP Premiership side, Otumoetai to Michaels Ave Reserve on ANZAC day where the venue played host to two matches in the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup.

The Auckland Sunday League Premiership side took the lead in the first half through Max Walker and Andy Baggely and led going into the break by 2-1. Otuomoetai equalized through Nick Barnes, but in the 88th minute, Jamie McGookin’s goal stole the victory away for Kiwi True Blues to progress to the next round of the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup.

The other match to take place at Michaels Ave Reserve was Auckland Wanderers welcoming WaiBOP side, Te Awamutu.

The visitors proved to be strong opponents for Wanderers and won the match by 4-1 – Andy Stock scored the goal for the ASFA team.

Bill McKinlay Park was a venue in action on ANZAC day, where Northland based side, Onerahi travel down to take on Auckland Sunday League team, Bohemian Celtic in their Chatham Cup Preliminary round fixture.

After dominating much of the first half, Onerahi won the match by 4-1 to progress to the next round.
