Bay Olympic have appointed Valerio Raccuglia as its new Director of Football.
Raccuglia has recently returned from a stint as Technical Director for football Federation of Samoa. Prior to this he spent six years in Wellington, coaching Miramar Rangers to the Central League Title in 2013 and 2014 and acting as Video Analyst for team Wellington over the same period. Valerio joined the Wellington Phoenix in 2014 where he was an Academy Coach and Video Analyst for the Phoenix for four years before moving to Samoa.
Italian born, with a 12 year senior playing career in Italy, the UK and Denmark, Raccuglia first began coaching youth in Denmark in 2008 and then progressed to scouting and assisting with coaching a First Division team before moving to New Zealand in 2012. He gained his Football Federation Australia A License in 2016 having earlier gained his UEFA B License in Denmark in 2010.
Club Chairman Graham Leaming said the Club were delighted to have Raccuglia join Bay Olympic. “Valerio has excellent technical qualifications and outstanding playing and coaching experience in Europe and Oceania. He shares our ambition to provide all of the youth and juniors at our Club with an excellent environment to enjoy and develop their football. We are confident Valerio is going to make a great contribution to Bay Olympic and look forward to introducing to our members and helping him succeed.”
