COVID-19
Updated as @ 13th April 2022
All of New Zealand moves to an ORANGE light setting under the the Covid Protection Framework as of 11.59pm Wednesday 13th April 2022.
All Baseball clubs and regions ensure you become familar with the Covid Protection Framework at an ORANGE traffic light setting and the application of this system to baseball in your club or community.
As New Zealand moved into the new Covid Protection Framework (CPF) at 11.59pm Thursday 2nd December 2021, there is a need to understand a new context, language and reference system, along with a completely new way of operating our COVID-19 related restrictions in our baseball delivery models. No longer will the Alert Level system exist, there will be new information, new contexts for delivery, new terms and definitions.
Baseball NZ acknowledges that the COVID-19 pandemic and the introduction of the new Covid Protection Framework (CPF) or ‘Traffic Light’ system presents some challenging times for both the sport sector and for our game of baseball. The new CPF applies pressure in how baseball is delivered throughout NZ at all traffic light settings but significantly at a red setting. We want baseball to be able to continue seamlessly at every level of the CPF, for all age groups throughout NZ regardless of the traffic light setting.
We are adhering to, and working within, the Government and Sport NZ guidelines for sport, play and recreation. We therefore strongly recommend and encourage our regional associations, clubs and members to follow the guidance set out for Baseball in NZ.
Baseball NZ will endeavour to update documents as Sport NZ, the Ministry of Health and Government guidelines are adjusted or changed.
Communication
It is important that your members, participants and spectators know both your requirements or expectations of them and they of you under the new CPF. They should receive clear communication from you on a regular basis.
Tournaments & Events Under the Covid Protection Framework (CPF)
Organising and hosting events or tournaments in the current covid environment and under the regulations of the CPF requires additional considerations and planning. Please ensure you have read the Baseball NZ Events Under CPF Red Guidelines.
Returning to Exercise and Play Post Covid-19 Infection
Returning to training, exercise and play post covid-19 infection should be a considered approach for each individual. A graduated return to training, then play is recommended following covid-19 infection.
