BAY DRAGONS

Bay Dragons are an all-women team of all ages, stages and levels of fitness.

We enjoy getting together to participate in a water sport that not only increases fitness and strength but offers the opportunity of camaraderie with women aged 16 through to 70+.  We compete in the Women’s division in regattas, bringing home Gold on many occasions!

You do not have to have previous experience or know how to paddle – we will teach you.

Come and give-it-a-go – we are friendly, welcoming and keen to share our sport with other women.

  • To reduce additional costs to team members competing at regattas.  We do this by participating and being involved in organised fundraising activities.

If you are not so keen on paddling but want to join a great team of women - we have positions and training for:

  • Sweeps – stands at the back and steers the boat
  • Callers* – sits up the front and beats the drum in time with the strokes

If either of these sounds inviting please get in touch.

We will train you, so no experience is necessary!

SUMMER TRAINING:

The upcoming season is from the end of September until April at Sulphur Point. This is for our team training when we undertake our own coaching sessions.

While our team trains 3 times a week we appreciate not everyone is able to attend all practices – sometimes life gets in the way, however, we would like members to attend at least twice a week if possible.

Our training times are:

Monday: meet 5.30pm, on the water 5.45pm – 7pm

Wednesday: meet 5.30pm, on the water 5.45pm – 7pm

Saturday: meet 7.30am, on the water 7.45am - 9.15am (followed by coffee for those interested)

WINTER TRAINING:

Starts April through to September.

This is Club training and is not compulsory.  It is an opportunity for those keen to continue paddling through the winter months to keep up fitness and friendships.  There are also fun regattas held monthly for those interested.

Training times:

Saturday: Meet 9am, on the water 9.15am - 10.15am
* Time may vary each winter season.
