Program Details

This program is designed to build confidence, have fun, and develop basketball skills over a duration of 20 weeks. Each session lasts 60 minutes and features a balanced mix of skill development, engaging activities, and game situations. The program progressively increases in intensity and complexity, fostering mastery of skills, teamwork, and self-confidence.

The primary goal of this program, named He Waka Eke Noa, is to provide young females with the opportunity to gain confidence while exploring basketball in a safe and non-judgmental environment. We aim to create a space where participants can enhance their self-esteem, life skills, game skills, and overall enjoyment of physical activity.

In alignment with our holistic approach, we will also include workshops including a physiotherapist to discuss injury prevention, along with a guest female speaker who will share the benefits of wellness and physical activity in their life.

The program is focused on girls from YEARS 7-10 and is been created from previous Girls Basketball pilot programs run by Bears Basketball. The He Waka Eke Noa programme aims to meet the specific needs of girls in our local community.
