Bay Olympic’s Director of Football, Shane Knowles, won the prestigious Douglas Pharmaceuticals Coach of the Year at the glittering Unitec Sport Waitakere Awards and Dinner held at the Trusts Stadium last Friday 2nd of November.

Shane was amongst the likes of Mahe Drysdale, current Olympic and World Champion in the Men’s Single Scull. Mahe won the Steinlager Sportsman of the Year and Unitec Supreme Award.
The introduction to Shane’s presentation stated;
"Shane Knowles is Bay Olympic Football Club’s Director of Football and Coach of the Premier Northern Region Football League team. This season his premier team won the Northern Region Football League with 2 games to spare. Last year his team won the same competition with 3 games to spare. Shane’s team was also a 2010 finalist and 2011 semi finalist of the Chatham Cup, the most prestigious New Zealand-wide club competition. Shane oversees the coaching of Bay Olympics Junior and Youth players. He takes the weekly and elite academies as well as school holiday programmes.”

The Bay Olympic Men's Premier Team were also selected as one of 2 finalists for the Canam Construction Team of The Year, but were pipped by the Piha Surf Lifesaving boat crew who won the world's biggest surfboat event, held in Australia.
