A Bit of background on the event.

Now in its 7th year and growing in popularity.

This event is organised by the Bombay Lions Club to celebrate the arrival on 18 March 1865 of the ship "Bombay" from England. The “Bombay” was towed into Auckland by the warship “Curacao”, having lost a large portion of her masts and rigging in a terrible storm off the coast of New Zealand. There were 400 assisted immigrants on board destined for the area now called Bombay where they were to settle on their promised 10 acre allotments. To reach their new home they travelled along the Gt South Rd from Drury to Bombay, a road that had just been completed by the army.

The 10k and half marathon course is along the path they would have travelled.

The 5k takes in part of the road but trails around a picturesque rural road taking in another area of Bombay.

Bombay is a vibrant community proud of the pioneering history in the area.

Blessed with green countryside and many historical points of interest, rolling hills and boasting some of the best scenic views with a wide vista of Auckland to the North and to the Waikato to the South.

Friendly and welcoming Bombay has a heritage of being at the crossroads of Auckland and the rest of New Zealand. Something Bombay likes visitors to experience during their visit and participation in our well established fun run.
