Trev Cloughley, Sam McAuliffe, and Des Shea were all class in winning the South Canterbury Bowls3Five tournament at the Timaru Bowling Club on Sunday 12th November.
Four teams qualified for post section, with teams having to win three or Four wins to qualify.
Richie Kerr's Kia Toa team with Jim Vevers and Janice Williams, had a brilliant game of bowls against Temuka's Roger Jackson, and Merv and Maria Davey, with Kerr's team winning in two sets with heads changing on several occasions.
In the other Semi Final, Cloughley's team were all class beating last year's winners Sharon Leonard, Noel Williams, and Ian Holley, also winning 2 sets to love.
This brought the two best teams on the day to make the final. With Kerr's team winning the first set 10-nil but Cloughley's team rallied back with outstanding bowls, winning the second 7-nil. On the last end Vevers drew a beauty, but Shea with his last bowl played a humdinger of a shot and trailed kitty for shot. Kerr with his first bowl rocked the shot bowl with a run shot and was wide with his second shot, with Cloughley's team winning the competition.
Cloughley and Kerr were full of praise for way their teams played. Cloughley's team played outstanding bowls all day and the team will now play Canterbury with the winner going to the National Final.
