Six teams qualified for Post Section play of the South Canterbury Men's Centre Open Bowls Triples played at the West End club on Sunday 19th November. They will be up against top opposition at the West End club this Sunday in a knockout competition.

Roger Jackson's team of Greg Valentine and Dave Wood did it the hard way and played magic bowls to beat the ever and most consistent bowler Warren Garrick's team from Timaru on an extra end last bowl. Jackson played a sensational draw shot to ditch to qualify, and to advance to the Post Section stage. Jackson was on fire all day and had huge support from his team, but the last two bowls he played in his third game to put Roger Glendinning's team out were breath taking and sensational. He drew shot with his first bowl, but Glendinning played a beauty sitting by kitty but the Aussie Jackson, cool as ever, played a beauty of a run shot bowl to give his team a chance to win the Centre Title.

Tom Taiaroa's team of Barrie Andrews and Shayne Chisnall will have to be favourite's but to be fair, they were never tested with three convincing wins.

Garry Ford's team of Scott Fisher and Nigel Mobberley played outstanding bowls all day and had the strongest opposition, but came out with flying colours. Sam Morton and Dean Harper's team also had three wins and remain unbeaten.

There will be some outstanding bowls this Sunday at the West End club, starting at 8.30am and I'm picking a West End final Ford vs Taiaroa.

The Kia Toa team of skip Dean Harper, Roger Brown, and Jarod Barker were all class in taking out South Canterbury’s first Centre Title, the Men's Open Triples, played at the West End green on Sunday 26th November.

In the final they played in-form Tom Taiaroa, Barrie Andrews, and Shayne Chisnall.

The Kia Toa skip got off to a flier as the West End team held 3 shots and Harper came to the rescue with 2 great draw shots to take the early lead 4 nil.

On the 6th end Harper 2 down, plays a pearler of a shot trailing kitty a foot from the ditch to hold 2 shots. Taiaroa was so close getting the kitty bowl but shoots a toucher into the ditch and Harper draws another to extend the lead 9 to 2.

On the next end Barker and Brown smother the kitty with four shots but Andrews plays a beauty to close the gap 9 to 3.

On next end the West End front men got into action and closed the gap with 4 shots to make the score 9 to 7. Once again Barker and Brown held shot and Taiaroa plays a sensational shot beside kitty to close the gap to one shot. Again Barker and Brown played outstanding bowls outplaying the West End front two and scored 6 shots over next  2 ends with Harper adding on both occasions to extend their lead 15 to 8 and holding one hand on trophy.

The next end, the West Enders came back with 3 shots after Harper a bit unlucky, knocks Andrews bowl in for shot and Taiaroa adds two honeys to close gap 16 to 12.

On the next end Harper's team closed the game down and run out winners 16 to 14.

This was Jarod Barker's first centre title, Harper's 2nd and Brown's third title.
