Alexis Pritchard appointed to New Zealand Olympians Commission

The role of the Olympians Commission is to provide an opportunity for Olympians to celebrate their Olympic experience, to continue their involvement in the Olympic Movement and to support the objectives of the NZOC. The Commission meet three times each year and will seek to provide advice to the NZOC with respect to all matters impacting on Olympians.

The eight New Zealand Olympians appointed to the Commission are:

  • Alexis Pritchard - Boxing / 2012 London
  • Chantal Brunner - Athletics / 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney
  • Dave Schaper - Rowing / 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney
  • James Nation - Hockey / 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing
  • Lorne DePape - Curling / 2006 Torino
  • Pamela Bell - Skiing / 1998 Nagano
  • Selwyn Maister - Hockey / 1968 Mexico, 1972 Munich, 1976 Montreal

Over the past week the Commission has hosted a number of functions for New Zealand Olympians as part of Olympic Week celebrations. 114 New Zealand Olympians have gathered across the country with four Olympian functions in Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington and Dunedin.

As well as a great opportunity to catch up with fellow Olympians, the functions provided an opportunity for several of the guests to be presented with their official uniquely numbered New Zealand Olympian pin.
