WELCOME

Hi we welcome you to our site and hope you have a look around our site.  If you are interested give us a call.

Trainings are at the Henry Hill School Hall Hall.                             

Trainings will start sundays only for pre season then term 3  a midweek training will be put in place for the competitive teams

At this stage Friday 4.00 to 6.00 for Under 13s and sunday only 3.00 to 6.00 for Under 18s although this may change depending on what suits the girls.

We'd love to see you come and have a look.

The younger OFC team we are just starting and will commence in August.


HISTORY

This team initially started out as Burlington Guards in 1993 as a midget team as they were then called.

The team was started by sisters leonie & Heidi MacDonald.  Leonie intially coached the team then Heidi took over  again herself.
Heidi continued coaching the team until 2003 when her neice Kellie MacDonald took over.

Kellie had marched in the first team as a 10 year old and after completing her under 16 grade then turned to coaching first the Kiwi Bears team in 1999 and then the under 12 (midget) team jointly with Heidi in 2003.

The team went through several different colour changes, Black & Blue initially then to red & green  under Heidi and then green & White Under Kellie. and Green and Gold for the Under 16s initially.

However  all teams have now gone to green skirts and hats with white jackets and Green Hats .

When Kellie took over we had the 2 teams Under 12 & Kiwi however in 2009 we stepped the under 12 team up to Under 16 and the Under 12 as they were all very new became a Fernz team plus the Kiwi team.

This trend has continued over the years and again in 2017 the Under 12 team all stepped up to the Under 16 so again a brand new under 12 team was formed.

CURRENT

Kellie now coaches the Under 18 team herself  and  Jennie MacDonald, Kellies mother one of the original chaperones now Manages this team and takes the Under 13 team with the assistance of Kylie Hunter .

We will have a Little OFC  team again this year with 2 of the older girls helping take this.

SPORT ADVANTAGES

Advantages of this sport are Fitness, memory skills, friendships, The girls enjoy moving to music both Dance and Drills.   Also travel as we travel around the North island to competitions and every 2nd year south island for Nationals.
