SPORTS AT BURNSIDE HIGH SCHOOL

Welcome from the SPORTS Department

HĀKINAKINA

The Sports Department along with Teachers in Charge, coaches, managers and parents all devote time, energy and expertise to ensure that BHS students have many exciting sport codes to choose from. There are currently 40 sports on offer across a range of different grades.

Regardless of whether the goal is to win, learn new skills, make friends or just have fun, there is definitely something for everyone. Our students compete with distinction locally and nationally. We encourage and support both participation- orientated athletes and elite athletes.

We hope you will take advantage of the many opportunities that the Burnside High School Sports Programme provides and we look forward to helping you achieve your sporting goals.

CHOOSE YOUR SPORT

Each sport has different costs, venues and equipment. Pick a sport and register online. Registration dates for summer and winter sports codes will be advertised on the Student Daily notices, students are encouraged to check these regularly. Once registered trials and/or teams will be communicated to you.

GET PERMISSION / PAY

Being a member of a Burnside High School sports team carries with it a number of responsibilities. Players will be required to sign code of conduct, and player agreements and are expected to follow through on their commitments and communicate clearly and early if there are any changes of plans for legitimate reasons. Payment is required on registration unless prior arrangements have been made. The school operate a 'no pay no play' policy.

PLAY

Get out there and have fun. If you are not sure what sport is for you email the sports department and we can help.
