Camkada judo club was founded in1963.  The original members used to travel to Te Awamutu to train, but decided to set up their own club in Cambridge.

Various locations around the town were used.

The Te Awamutu judo club disbanded in the late 2000's.  Camkada have filled the gap left by the closing of the club in the town, and now have sessions at the Te Awamutu Event Centre once a week,
