“Capital Football has over 5600 players and 706 teams playing across junior, youth and senior Futsal leagues with an annual growth of 35%”

2017 was another year of growth for Futsal across the Wellington region. Capital Football has seen a 35% annual growth as a result of the introduction of Girls Only Futsal leagues, record numbers in the Junior Leagues at ASB Sports Centre and the Walter Nash Centre, and many football clubs now adopting Futsal as part of their club models.

2018 is around the corner and promises to provide even more opportunities for those wanting to get in to the fastest growing indoor sport in New Zealand.

Capital Futsal Development Officer, Todd Bryant, is excited to bring the momentum from 2017 in to the New Year,

“We have had some great successes in 2017 which will continue in 2018 as we look to keep developing Futsal in the Wellington region. The most exciting movement for me personally is the number of football clubs we've had come on board and engage in the girls and mixed space. We now also have two Futsal Academies in the region that are working with these Clubs to support them."  

Capital Football is excited to release the Term 1 2018 information for leagues across the junior, youth, and senior space.

“We have made some small changes to our Term 1 leagues, in particular, around team grading and age group criteria in the junior space. This should create more competitive games and allow teams to remain together as we cross into the new year. Our priority is to engage and keep players in the game longer with the goal of players transitioning through the player pathway (junior, youth, and senior space)."
