RICCARTON APPOINT NEW COACH

Riccarton Cricket Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Darrin Entwistle as it’s new Premier Coach and Club Coaching Co-Ordinator for the 2022/23 season.

Darrin has a long association with the club having played for Riccarton from the mid 1980’s through to early 2000’s to the highest level including the Premiership winning sides in the 1990’s under Gary Stead.

Following his playing career Darrin was involved in coaching junior cricket at Riccarton and OBC and has continued that involvement and passion for coaching and developing the next generation of players to grow and achieve success.

As a New Zealand Cricket Level 2 Accredited Coach for several years Darrin has been involved in coaching CJCA and CMCA aged group teams and more recently Shirley Boys High School 1st XI.  For the last couple of years Darrin has been volunteering as part of the senior coaching team at East Christchurch Shirley Cricket Club.

Darrin has also been involved in cricket administration as a Board Member of the Christchurch Junior Cricket Association serving as President from 2015-17.

The club is looking forward to the season ahead and we are pleased to welcome Darrin back to the club in this new capacity as our Premier & Club Coach.

Club Chairman Matt Grant welcomes the new coach’s appointment and says it is one of an important number of key areas the club has focused on as part of looking to improvements for the future.

“The Riccarton Cricket Club has had a busy winter season across a number of areas for improvement and we are fully committed to achieving our aspirations at Upper Riccarton Domain both on and off the field over the next couple of years.”
