JOE CHAN

Community Development Officer


Joe Chan is originally from Hong Kong and has been coaching both in schools and Badminton clubs for over 21 years. Besides coaching, Joe has also competed in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and New Zealand. He was the runner-up of the New Zealand Master’s National Championships in the 40+ Men’s Singles category in 2018 and 2020. Joe also possesses an Associate Diploma of Applied Science – Fitness and Recreation Leadership from Canberra Institute of Technology, Australia. In 1999, he completed a Hong Kong Olympic Academy Sports Management Course from the Sports Federation Olympic Committee in Hong Kong. He then completed a Diploma Programme in Recreation Management from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Joe is also a certified Badminton World Federation (BWF) Level 1 Coach


Joe continued coaching and working at CMBA because he saw the progress that CMBA was making and wanted to be part of the growth. He also values team unity, self-confidence, sportsmanship, and a desire to compete as well as giving your best effort. Joe knows how to accomplish all his tasks and does so in a very effective and accurate manner while having a positive attitude. He excels in his role as a Badminton Coach for CMBA and has become an integral part of the organisation since he joined in 2018. He assisted Donna Haliday in coaching at CMBA back in 2018 and became part of CMBA’s Management Committee in 2019 as the Coaching Convener. He joined CMBA as the Community Development Officer in 2020 and has been in the role since then.
