E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā rau rangatira mā, tēnā kautau katoa. AMNOHL is excited to announce the appointment of Jess Huia as Head Coach of the 2018 Aotearoa Māori Netball Secondary School team. Of Ngāti Kahungunu decent, Huia played her Māori Netball for Te Waipounamu throughout her secondary school years. Her current role as Netball South Coach Developer and Talent ID Coordinator has enabled her to be involved and work closely with High Performance / Performance Coaching environments. "I am feeling very honoured and privileged to lead this campaign for 2018. I am looking forward to seeing our talented secondary school players in Gisborne next month at National Tournament. We will be selecting the best team of girls to travel to Australia to represent Aotearoa in May and will be looking to go back to back on the results from 2017. Kura takahi puni". Huia, along with her assistant coach (to be announced next week) and her predecessor Rebecca Gabel - who was recently appointed to the assistant coach role for the Waikato Bay of Plenty BEKO team - will name a squad of trialists following the completion of the annual AMNOHL Tournament being held Easter Weekend in Gisborne. Trials will then take place on the 14th and 15th of April and the team will begin preparations to defend their title at the International Schoolgirls Netball Challenge in Runaway Bay, Gold Coast, Australia from 28 May to 1 June 2018. END.
