The 2018 AMNISS team to defend the International Schoolgirls Netball Challenge at the end of May in Australia has been named following a two day trials camp in Otaki last weekend. Head coach Jess Huia was thrilled with the calibre, experience and spice of the youth amongst the team noting that they have some big shoes to fill following on from the team's success in 2017. "As a panel we had a tough job on our hands to work through selecting the best players but believe we have the right mix of experience and a few wild card choices in there which is what we'll need to combat the different styles of play we will face in Australia. We now shift our focus to the Gold Coast. There is a lot of preparation to do to get ready. Every single player is both excited and ready to take on the challenge. We are all feeling very humbled, proud and thrilled to represent Aotearoa Maori Netball and are now well into the business of setting up individual training and support plans. We will come together to meet for the final camp before we fly out. The count-down to Gold Coast has begun and we want to return with the trophy - kura takahi puni”.
