Review of MTF Finance Kerikeri Senior Prems 1st round game vs Kamo Sat 25 Mar

The Kerikeri prems hosted Kamo on Saturday in what can only be described as a typical scrappy 1st up game , with neither team likely to be happy with the way they played. Kamo dominated the set piece and territory early on and scored 1st with a converted try. KK captain Oneal Rongo replied with a bustling close quarter try , converted by no 10 Aaron Kelly.

Kelly then nailed a monstrous 50m penalty kick to give KK a 10-7 halftime lead.

Kamo started 2nd half well with 2 quick tries as KK struggled to hold onto ball and build phases and not get penalised. They finally came to life late in 2nd half with impressive American centre Oliver Feagin finishing a good team try.

Unfortunately that was the end of the scoring and Kamo took the win 19-15.

Player of the day in forwards was rugged Cook Island prop KC and the backs was Oliver Feagin , both were outstanding in their 1st game for new club.

Squash Club Development

Development of the outer shell of the building is progressing nicely with the roof going on before the end of the April (weather permitting!)

Funding is being finalised for the courts themselves which will be winging their way here from Germany!! The club is aiming to have them installed by Sep/Oct this year with an aim of having the whole complex open before Christmas !!

When completed the complex will house 4 courts, a viewing platform , a basic kitchen & changing rooms.. What an amazing new facility for Kerikeri !!

The Final Word

There’s a man sitting in the front row at the Rugby World Cup Finals, but amazingly, there’s an empty seat beside him. Another man spots it, goes up to him and says: “Do you mind if I sit here?”

“No, not at all,” replies the first man. “It’s my wife’s seat, but unfortunately she died recently..” “So why didn’t you get one of your family to come,” asks the second man out of curiosity.

“They’re all at the funeral.”
