NELSON COLLEGE RUGBY NEWS

23rd May 2023

Isn't the weather unpredictable at the moment. Another weekend of rain and wet, muddy fields. Let's hope we get some fine spells ahead. We had a number of teams playing over the weekend and picked up four wins in total. Well done to these teams and to all our teams who have been playing some good rugby in a opening weeks of the season. This coming weekend sees all of our teams at home again so please get down to Broads to support our boys if you can.

1st XV News

Congratulations to the 1st XV team and management who travelled to Christchurch to play Christchurch Boys' High School and came away with a 14-10 win! This is an outstanding result on CBHS's Club Day and puts our team at the top of the table. Down 0-10 at half time in abysmal conditions, our team fought hard in the second half and were rewarded with a try near the posts to Oliver Kirk, which was converted by Zyon Ford. With CBHS down a player for 10 minutes in the second half and a strengthening breeze, the team were able to apply more pressure and with 15 minutes left, outstripped the Christchurch defense and Callum Robertson went in for our second try. This was converted and the team lead 14-10. Christchurch threw everything at our team in the last quarter but our defense held firm to get the win. Well done all. All the best to Christchurch Boys' for the season ahead.

Next Game: 12:30pm vs. Marlborough Boys' College at home on Thursday 1st June.

Kind Regards
